MANLY TOUCH U7s & U9s LOCAL COMP RULES 2021

MANLY TOUCH U7s & U9s LOCAL COMP RULES 2021

With our Manly Touch Junior Summer Competition commencing tomorrow the following link outlines the rules for the U7s and U9s Competitions.

MODIFIED RULES – U7s & U9s

As many of our U7s and U9s girls and boys are new to touch football you will also need to be aware of these minor rule modifications to the normal Touch Football Australia 8th Edition Rules.

Key Points for U7s

The most important modification is that in U7s the attacking team is allowed their full set of 6 touches regardless of any infringements.

Drop balls, late or forward passes, over the mark, etc count as a touch. Each team gets 6 chances with the ball in attack. Any infringement is not ‘play on’, it is counted as a touch. For example, any drop ball means that we will stop play and it is counted as a touch – it is not play on like in rugby or league. The player must go back and play the ball correctly but they still get to keep the ball for their 6 touches.

It is important to note that defenders are also not able to move up until the first receiver has touched the ball or the dummy-half runs with the ball.

Key Points for U9s

Normal touch football rules apply for U9s, for example drop balls, late or forward passes and over the mark are all a changeover of possession.

However, like U7s the defence is also not able to move up until the first receiver has touched the ball or the dummy-half runs with the ball.

Coaching

Coaches are allowed on the field in U7s and U9s games (except Finals) but must remain at least 5m behind the players. Coaches are not permitted to speak with the referees.

Behaviour

MWTA supports a zero tolerance to abuse of referees. Such behaviour can lead to players, coaches or parents being cited and/or teams losing competition points and, in extreme cases, teams will be removed from the competition.

Referees

All teams are required to pay the referee fee of $5 per match before the match commences.

Game Locations

All U7s and U9s games are at Nolan Reserve, North Manly.

The following download of Nolan Reserve shows the field layouts.

Ground Manager

On game day the Ground Manager and Referee’s Coordinator will be located at our Clubhouse at the Northern end of Nolan Reserve.

Playing Shirts

Team playing shirts and ball collection for all U7 and U9 teams is tonight 5.00pm – 6.00pm in our Clubhouse at Nolan Reserve. Please note social distancing rules apply and there is to be no more than 20 people in the clubhouse at any one time, so you may be asked to wait outside.
